Celebrating the Joy of Being the Part of PCSRA

On Republic Day (26 January 2019), PCSRA team in Gaya (Bihar) participated in the district-level rally, in the collaboration with ATMA. The team showcased the services been provided under the project. The team curated a Slogan “Hum Hain Kisan, Hame Chahiye Takniki Gyan, Hume Chahiye Mausam Ka Purvanuman, Badhegi Hamari Aay, Aur Badhega Desh Ka Maan” (We are farmers, we need knowledge of technology, we need weather forecast, our income will increase and so will the esteem of nation) to emphasize the importance of technology and innovation in the agriculture sector and farmer well- being.

The chief guest of the event was Shri Krishna Nandan Prasad Verma (Hon’ble Education, Law and Social Welfare Minister, Bihar) and many key officials like Commissioner, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Joint Director (Agriculture) of Magadh Range, District Magistrate (DM), Gaya, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Gaya, Superintendent of Police (SP), Gaya, District Agriculture Officer (DAO), Gaya, Project Director and Project Deputy Director, ATMA among the others were present there. There were 28 mobile pavilions and more than 3000 visitors attended the rally. The team showcased the PCSRA’s technological interfaces and equipment which is being used to deliver the services to the farmers. It involved the presentation of AWS, Weather boards, Flex Board representing SkyMitra App, Banner representing the Services & Benefits Provided under PCSRA project and demonstration of importance of weather forecasts in agriculture de-risking by effigies.

During the event, the team explained the benefits of the projects to the farmers and usage of SkyMitra app for the real time weather information and crop advisories. Guidance on the Rabi crop was shared with the farmers.

Farmers were interested in knowing the information about the 100% organic farming (Jaivik Kheti). One of the farmers, who is registered under the PCSRA project, now grows 100% organic wheat and potato. Farmers also shared their feedback about the project. A registered lady farmer in Gaya reported that she has utilized the insurance information SMS so well that the family got the crop insurance done so easily and upon crop loss, got the payouts and hence she is free from burnt of weather vagaries.

District Agriculture office has received third prize by district administration for their participation in the rally. District Agriculture office and ATMA (Agriculture Technical Management Association) has also appreciated our work and participation in the rally and provided appreciation letters to Skymet.
